Know what to take
If you’re struck by a disaster, family and friends will be anxious to know how you are and whether or not you’ve evacuated. You or your neighbors may also need help. Together, make a plan in advance for how you will communicate with each other.
Be ready to leave
None of us knows when an emergency could strike. You might not have much time to gather your things (or your wits, for that matter!) That’s why it makes sense to prepare ahead of time and be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
Know where to go
If you’ve never had to evacuate, it’s hard to imagine what it’s like. But planning your destination and routes ahead of time may ease your mind and, in the event of an emergency, make the evacuation go so much more smoothly.
